Who doesn't wear a mask at one time or another?
In the late 90s I was part of a drumming circle. I was asked to create a ritual to open and close a Long Dance (drumming from sun down to sun up). I couldn't get masks out of my mind...also, I knew nothing about them. I did have the sense that I could form them on my face. So I did and kept on using my face as form. At the final ritual I put the 4 direction masks in the fire. Something inside of me whispered, "You aren't done with us!" And, 30 years later, I'm still making them and teaching mask classes as well.
